Graduate Academic Advising

Academic advising for graduate students at Lehman College occurs at three levels:

  1. Degree Program-Level Advising

Each graduate program assigns at least one faculty advisor to assist students with academic planning and degree progression. Graduate students are required to meet with their Program Advisor prior to each semester's registration and are strongly encouraged to consult regularly for guidance on program requirements, course selection, and academic milestones. Ongoing advising ensures accurate, up-to-date information and supports timely degree completion.

  2. College-Level Advising

The Office of Graduate Studies provides guidance on college-wide academic policies and procedures, including:

·       Academic standing, retention, and probation

·       Appeals (excluding grade appeals)

·       Grade changes

·       Transfer credit policies

·       Curriculum Waivers and Substitutions

·       Time-to-degree and extension requests

  1. Graduation Specialist Advising

The Graduate Graduation Specialist supports students in the final phase of their studies, focusing on degree audits, student advisement, resolving record issues, graduation application review and coordinating degree conferral.
