College Accreditation and Affiliations


Lehman College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Degree programs are registered by the New York State Education Department. Some degree programs are also accredited by professional associations.

The Baccalaureate and Master’s degree programs in Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). The Baccalaureate and Master’s degree programs in social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (https://www.cswe.org/). The Master’s degree program in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences is accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (https://www.asha.org/). The B.S. program in Dietetics, Foods & Nutrition is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (https://www.eatrightpro.org/acend). The B.S. program in Chemistry is certified by the American Chemical Society (https://www.acs.org/). The Master’s program in Geographic Information Science is accredited by Professional Science Masters (https://professionalsciencemasters.org/).

All educator preparation programs offered by the College's School of Education are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) (https://caepnet.org/). In addition, numerous School of Education programs are individually accredited (https://www.lehman.cuny.edu/institutional-effectiveness/accreditation.php#program).

Lehman's B.S. and M.S. programs in accounting provide the educational preparation required for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State. The College offers State-approved teacher education programs that can lead to New York State provisional or permanent certification. Graduates of the undergraduate nursing program are eligible to take the Registered Nurse licensure examination.

Lehman College has chapters of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and Golden Key National Honor Society. Individual disciplines have their own honor societies with national affiliations. The College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
