Description

Topics from number theory that have special relevance to the intermediate school program will be considered. These include prime numbers, unique factorization, congruence, Diophantine equations, and Fermat's theorem. Abstract algebra, including equivalence relations and some group theory, will be interwoven in the development, but the primary emphasis is on the number systems that could be considered in the intermediate schools.
