Lehman College’s Online Advanced Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education offers candidates with initial teaching certification the opportunity to earn an extension in Gifted and Talented Education, which will enhance their teaching skills in the classroom. The online extension prepares candidates to identify students in their classrooms who manifest giftedness and to provide those students with differentiated instruction. This will enable all students, with diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds, to meet their potentials and to succeed in the school environment. With specific emphasis on the urban environment, graduates will be able to meet the unique needs of underrepresented students and provide appropriate curricula at all levels of instruction.
